Any advice on what kind of pet I should get?

I really want to get a pet. I think I’m getting broody so I need something to look after. I’d love to get a rabbit, as I have a garden, and I have a garage where I could put the hutch, but, I’m a student living away from home, and I don’t know what I would do with the rabbit during the holidays, or for the summer because I’m going abroad:( Any ideas?
