Does anyone still use doghouses anymore?

While at Petsmart getting my furry taskmasters some cat food, I had to walk pass the rack of doghouses for some reason. That made me think of Snoopy, and that crazy Lowes commercial I can’t get out of my head with the two birds adding on to their bird house. I was thinking there might be something to a birdhouse, but I can’t remember when I last saw someone use a doghouse. About 4 years ago, the daughter of a woman I did work for had a doghouse for their puppy, but it was more so it could go in it to get away from the sun, or wind while she was at work. The dog slept inside the house at night. Wasn’t the original reason for a doghouse was to protect the dog overnight while it slept outside? Now that dogs are seen more as family and less like dogs, there is no one I know that keeps their dogs outside at night, can’t remember that since I was a kid.

Who buys doghouses and what do they use them for in respect to the dog?
