What are the reasons people don't do this if they have all the equipment?

Why don’t more people live in tents? As per my question, if they have firewood, pots and pans, canned goods, a great sleeping bag and a strong, wind proof tent, charcoal for an alternative fire why would they ditch a tent for a motel in the fall? Motel living would cost a lot more and possibly be noiser.
