Does anybody have Dungeons and Dragons character information that I can use?

I don’t know if this this is altogether legal, but I’ve been looking into playing D&D, and I need some rather vital information from the character books. You see, I bought the “Dungeon Master Kit” and the “Rules Compendium” thinking that that was all that I would need to get started. Not surprisingly, I screwed up again. Apparently I need to buy “Heros of the Fallen Lands” or “Heros of the Forgotten Kingdoms” as well (Or both). I have an associate coming here tomorrow to design a character with me, so I need to get the base data for the races that we want to use. If one of you happens to have these books, or can direct me to a website with the information, it would be greatly appreciated. If it helps, I am playing 4th generation, and the races we are interested in are Drow and Dwarf. Others include Elf, Dragonborn, and Human, but anything would be helpful. Thank you!
