How much pain should I expect at the dentist tomorrow?

This will sound completely ridiculous because it is ridiculous, but I have not had my teeth cleaned by a dentist since I was 18. I’m 32 now… They will do an initial eval with x-rays to determine what needs to be done, then they’ll immediately start the cleaning.

I’m assuming since it’s been so long that they will want to do a “deep cleaning”, and it’s going to hurt like hell. Do you think I’m correct in my assumption? Do they offer a painkiller if they need to do a deep cleaning?

I’m trying to see if any nearby friends or relatives have a spare hydrcodone or lortab for me to take beforehand, lol.
