Did you ever tell words of wisdom when you were younger?

Asked by Earthflag (549points) November 23rd, 2011

When I was a young kid, about 5–6, I used to be content and reasonable. Reason was everything to me. If I wanted to do something wrong, I would ask why it is wrong, and If the answer is reasonable I would accept it. I barely cried or got mad.

When I was 14, my parents insulted me and accused me. They told me I was wasting money all the time. They hit me, yelled at me and made that day a hell… I knew I did not deserve it, I never spend my money on anything I do not need. So that night, my father was feeling guilt, and he tried to talk to me. He told me he doesn’t like my mother, and made a mistake by marrying him. He was crying. I told him; “You don’t have to be in love with the person you marry. With years, the power of love won’t stay like it was before. It is rare. In your case, there must be respect. You must respect her because she is your wife, and I am your daughter.”

My father told me he understood who I was after that night.

Is this normal? Are all kids like this?
