Is it normal to be this sick?

I’m still recovering after a night of illness, I vomited six times and had the chills and muscle spasms in my legs and stomach which were unbearable. I felt like I was going to die. I couldn’t stop whining and vocalizing my pain like a child, even my family were freaked out by my moaning.

Anyway…it only lasted 12 hours or so until I started to feel better. But what could cause such intense, yet short, sickness? Is it more likely to be food poisoning or a stomach flu? Have you ever had such a severe reaction like this before?
