Why does Google News not keep my web search?

I Google something, in the main bar at Google.com. And then I can narrow it down to ‘images’ or ‘shopping’ or ‘maps’ or ‘video’, but not news. When I click news, it just goes to regular, plain news (http://news.google.com/), not news results for my previous search. And this is fairly new, Google used to not do this. Anyone else having this problem? Know of any fixes?
