Do you have any good ideas for a photo shoot?

A few of my friends and I have planned to get together on Monday. One of my friends who is a photographer is coming along.

While I thought this was just going to be a fun time where my friend who just so happens to be a photographer would take pictures (like he agreed to do and my other friends agreed with), he admitted to me in a conversation that he was hoping to get at least a couple of good shots for his portfolio.

I am at a loss for ideas, though. We could do a New Year theme, but he wants to avoid doing a holiday theme as he wants the photos to be relevant for a longer period of time.

It is winter where I live and we have snow, so I was thinking of a winter theme. That being said, shooting inside is also an option.

Do you have any ideas that you view as worthy of trying out that we could do either indoors or outdoors that could result in some pretty awesome photographs? If so, please feel free to share.
