One year old macbook pro for sale. Is it worth it for me to buy it?

Hey guys,

A buddy of mine is selling his macbook pro because he just got a new computer. There are no scratches or anything (I’ve seen it and I trust the guys). The specs are as follows:

15-inch, Early 2011
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
8GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
Running Mac OS X Lion

Also,
750GB internal hard drive
Hi-Res Glossy Display

He said he got it one month ago (I guess before the Late 2011 models came out) and paid $2,700 for it. He wants $1,500 but will probably take $1,400.

My question is:

Is this worth it? Or am I going to regret it once the new Macbook pros come out (whenever they do). Does anyone expect the new ones to be a major update or will that not be for a few year.

I know all of this is mostly opinion but at the least I want to see if others would buy it in case I decide to resell it.

ps. i currently have a 5 year old 13 inch macbook (mid 2007)
