Are there movie projects which excited you when you heard they were to be produced but did not push through?

And why weren’t they produced? I read before that the vampire novel, “The Historian” by Elizabeth Kostova was about to be produced by Sony but it seems it’s dead in the water at present. Sony apparently paid for the rights already.

Also, I heard a long time ago that Kevin Costner planned to shoot a sequel to “Bodyguard” and wanted to talk to Lady Diana to star in it but unfortunately she passed away. Wished that happened!
