How should I go about layering area rugs?

I purchased a Persian rug online and it looks as though it’s a tad bit small for my space. I do want to use that rug there, and was wondering how I could go about layering rugs. My rug is a 4×7. It’s a small space, at 11 feet wide (from wall to wall), so, I don’t have a lot of room to play with as far as width.
