Which is going to be cheaper, booking a hotel room online or walking-in?

My friend and I are arriving in New York City tomorrow by bus around 12 noon. I’m feeling lazy about booking a room for an overnight stay and more interested in just walking in and getting one. Which way would cost me less? Thanks. : )
