What is a good affordable Whiskey?

I am going to a metal show on Thursday with some friends and want to get some Whiskey for the pregaming, what is a good affordable Whiskey to try? I wasn’t sure if Jack Daniels was the best option or if we should go for Jameson as I’m not much of a liquor drinker. Looking to spend $20–30 on the bottle, only three of us so a smaller bottle might cut it.
