Why are the Nike Galaxy Foamposite sneakers so popular?

Recently a lot of my friends have been selling these “Nike Galaxy Foamposite” sneakers, why are they so popular? Did a quick Google search and saw some pairs going for $1,000+, were they only sold for a limited amount of time or something?
