Are there certain fashions that are off limits for men or women of a certain age?

I’m in my mid 40’s now and I recently told my husband that I will avoid the current legging fashion trend. Although I was all over the 80’s legging trend. He wondered why, but I honestly cannot see a woman my age wearing leggings. For men, I tend to think of t-shirts with pithy sayings as off-limits past the age of 30 or so. So what are some fashions you consider inappropriate for those of us in the more mature crowd?
