At what temperatures do gasses become plasma?

Asked by Brian1946 (32274points) March 24th, 2012

It’s my understanding that plasma is a state of matter where the atoms have been stripped of their electrons, so I imagine in many cases it’s way hot.

Are there places and/or conditions where plasma exists in cooler temperatures, or is the inside of a plasma TV as hot as the sun? ;-)

Do man-made nuclear explosions or does lightning generate plasma?

Does plasma contain other particles besides electrons, neutrons, and protons?

BTW, this is not a homework question.
