Why does my cat vomit on a daily basis?

Asked by deni (23141points) September 15th, 2012

I have had my cat for over 2 years now. He is about 10 years old. He has been taken to the vet multiple, multiple times and nothing is wrong….A few months back I did find he had worms, took him and got him treated right away and as far as I know they are gone. But this has happened since I got him. Currently, he vomits about once a day, maybe once every two days, and then occassionally he won’t do it for a week or so.

Details…he has no teeth, so I have to grind up his food into a dust like substance. He drinks a lot of water and otherwise, or at least to the naked eye, is a beautifully healthy cat. He is pretty needy though, he wants a lot of attention and in the beginning of August I moved into an apartment by myself and so that has gotten a little worse…I think he’s lonely. BUT! It doesn’t explain the vomiting. No vet has ever been able to give me a reason or help me figure out what I can change to help my poor cat.

Nearly every night (and it is almost ALWAYS at night) I wake up to him gagging in the other room, then in the morning I go out and there are spatters everywhere, sometimes I step in it.

I feel terrible for the guy. Not to mention my rugs are being ruined and there are stains throughout my house which is really gross. Something really needs to change though, this is not NORMAL for a cat, am I right? And they’re not hairballs he’s coughing up, they are puddles of yellow vomit with usually no texture to them.
