What suggestions can you make for an OTC knee brace that relieves discomfort more than it generates it?

I have moderate OA in the medial compartment of both knees, one much worse than the other. Can you recommend any sort of easy-to-wear brace? So far, the discomfort far outweighs the benefits of the ones I have tried. (Suckered by catalog hype).
