If you are a cancer survivor, what's a short version of your story?

Asked by gailcalled (54644points) October 13th, 2012

I was diagnosed with breast cancer with stage II node involvement in 1996. I had surgery, chemo, radiation and five years of tamoxifin. Once I got my bearings, I changed my eating habits, got religious about exercise, learned how to meditate and stay calm and finally, and best of all, adopted a cat.

So I have been in remission for 16 years.

That’s long enough to forget about the cancer and concentrate on osteoarthritic knees.
