How can I be snoring with a bipap?

Yesterday I got my super fanc-ay new bipap machine. Last night, to say the least, was sort of hellish trying to fall asleep. I ended up having to take something to help me sleep, sit on the couch until I dozed, and then quickly put my mask on and get into bed before I was fully awake again.

Anyway, I asked my fiance how I did… and he said he could hear me snoring through the mask. What the heck? Isn’t this machine supposed to keep my airways open? The reason my machine is so fanc-ay is because it’s supposed to autocorrect the pressure all by its lonesome.

I am waiting for my sleep tech dude to call me back; I’m told he conducted a sleep study last night so he probably won’t call for a while. I’m just curious if anyone else here can explain this.
