Do you have a software wish list?

Asked by tom_g (16638points) March 13th, 2013

Is there an application that you “need” that has yet to be written? Is there a piece of software or a service you use that is just missing functionality that you would like to see?

In other words, does the average user of technology have a back log of features they are just waiting for someone to build, or does it work the other way around – does the invention of new functionality or software itself generate an inspiration to use it?

Note: I’m a software engineer in a 100-person company, and I’m not in the business of evaluating business requirements. Much of our back log is generated via client requests. But a percentage of our development is innovation that is anticipating “need” or use, and attempting to out-pace competitors.

But with the average consumer, I occasionally hear from friends that they wish a product did x, y, and z. But more times than not, existing functionality or software for x, y, and z already exists.

Is there something that you wish someone would get off their ass and build?
