Was this a good phone to buy?

My android samsung phone broke (it was a fourth replacement, but the rep told me that had lots of problems with that phone, and it always was replaced with a reconditioned one) so I was convinced to buy a new one, the galaxy 3 which is “the best phone of 2012.” Was this a good call (no pun intended…)? I don’t need zillions of bells and whistles, just a good reliable smart phone.
