What do you know about kidney polyps?

I AM CONSULTING A DOCTOR!
Now that that’s clear, I had an MRI for a back problem and in the report they casually mentioned a cyst on my liver . Since my mom recently died from liver cancer my doctor ordered an abdominal ultrasound just to make sure everything is ok. While I was there they asked if I wanted the report sent to any other doctor and I told them to send it also to an Osteopath I’m seeing for weight control.
I saw the diet doctor first and got a glimpse of the report and he told me to discuss it with my GP.
The cyst isn’t a problem but they noticed a polyp on my kidney. I’m not finding a lot of info about kidney polyps when I google it. I AM finding a lot about kidney cancer.
Does anyone know what I should expect from here? Just a little freaked. I’m in my 50’s, an age a lot of crappy things start happening to people. I’m sure my GP will be calling me in to discuss this but I’m leaving town tomorrow and probably won’t be back for two weeks. I think I will go nuts with worry until then.
Will someone who knows tell me that I’m just paranoid?
I wonder what it means that I told you guys about this before I told anyone in my family?
