Were these true statements on a talkshow regarding bedbugs?

I watched a segment on bedbugs. The host said they are becoming common on beds all over the country and it doesn’t matter a bit the cost of the house, how neat and clean it is or the standard of living of the homeowners. That the Queen of Sheba could unwittingly drag bedbugs home in the seams of her Oscar de la Renta purse and they would get up and walk and hide in her mattress. Was he trying to be politically correct or are the Super Rich just as apt to have them as people in , say, homeless shelters.
