NSFW - A few questions about your experiences with UTI (Females)

On Thursday I started a UTI and it was really severe. By the evening I had to go to emergency to get treatment. I was given antibiotics, which were 2 tablets for three days. On the Friday the pain was still so bad and wretched I went back to emergency and was offered codeine. Which I declined since I am not fond of opiates. Or medications which make you ‘fly around the room’ so to speak.

When I went the second time they took another sample to check if the medications were correct for that particular bacteria. I was told to phone my Doctor today to check but I really was a lot better. I cant recall the name of the antibiotic I was given. Anyway here are my questions and I have also tried to search a bit on the internet, but any feedback appreciated (I realize you are not doctors but any shared experience or knowledge appreciated.

How long does it normally take for a UTI to clear up? Mine used to clear up pretty fast. Its still hanging around today and its Tuesday.

If you experience orgasm can it cause more pain (as it has for me) I think my bladder went into a spasm. As now I am peeing frequently again and its sore again. This point is probably most important for me right now!

In regards to pain what do you use? I cant use ibuprofen or any mood altering pain meds. Is Pyridium still available or Azo?

Does a bladder spasm cause the pain when the infection has been treated? And if so does waiting until the bladder is a little fuller work better as opposed to the ‘tiny bits’ of pee that burn like hell. Sorry this is so long!
