Steam coming from cooktop?

We have a flat-top GE stove that’s about 8 months old. We have a warranty, but I wanted to see if this is normal before sitting on the phone with GE for an hour.

I’ve noticed that, when the stove is on a high temperature, steam can be seen coming from the back of the stovetop. It’s only out of the back right of the stove. It stops if the stove is opened, but starts again a few minutes later.

Any idea why it might be doing this?
