Anyone else have this happen when Googling lately?

You start typing something in, and of course Google “guesses” at what you’re looking for right away. But a few times lately, I’ve been forced out of the text box while writing. That is, I write the first word of my search, Google assumes it knows what I want, brings up the search results, and I have to click in the text box again in order to continue typing.
It’s usually on something commercial. For example, I was just now trying to search “Forever by Judy Blume” and Google substituted in “Forever 21” and kicked me out of the text box.
This only started recently. Are they being paid by particular companies to display their search results?
