Have you ever written a fan letter?

Who was it written to? Did you hear back?

Way back in high school I wrote to Jack Wagner who at the time was playing Frisco on General Hospital. I got a pre-printed postcard inviting me to spend money to join his fan club. I remember being thoroughly disgusted. After that I swore off fan letters. A couple of years ago my oldest was asked to write to an author he liked for a school assignment. My son picked Michael Chabon who took the time to hand write a note to the boy. I felt a slight hint of jealousy at the response.
