Why would a newborn be put in the ICU after a C section?

The daughter of a friend had her son last night and she is in intensive care after her C section and so is the boy. My daughter had 2 C sections and both came out fine. Why would this lady be in ICU when the baby was stuck in the birth canal since all babies who are unable to be born naturally are just delivered via C section? My friend’s daughter’s niece won’t even tell my friend hardly anything due to family estrangement.
