Why can't I sleep past 7:30 a.m. anymore?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46814points) August 31st, 2013

All of my life I’ve been a night owl. Could stay up all night, sleep all day. Left to myself, I could sleep till noon everyday. However, sleeping till noon always made me mad at my self because it basically wrecked the whole day. You’d feel like it’s 1:00 and it would be 4:00. I’d just lose the damn day. BUT I could do it, easily.

In times past when I had no reason to get up I managed to discipline myself to get up by 9:00, but I really had to force myself.

However, in the last month my eyes snap open at 7:30 a.m., seven days a week, like an alarm went off, and that’s all she wrote. I can’t go back to sleep.

It’s not necessarily bad, but for me, and my life long sleeping habits, it’s strange. I mean, my love of sleeping is legendary in my family! I often list it as one of my hobbies.

Any ideas why this is happening?
