Tattoos inspired by current relationships?

Couple things I have learned in my young life, is nothing lasts forever and nothing is never what it seems. At one time in my life I was a huge advocate of getting tattoos, as I got older the interest dwindled, but still have respect for the artform as I see it as one’s way to express themselves. However, I’m very skeptical when people get tattoos of friend’s name on themselves and wear so proudly only until a couple of months, weeks or perhaps years later, they have a falling out and are no longer existing in eachother’s orbit. I feel true relationships withstand the tests of time with love ingrained in the involved individuals, getting tattoos of friends that you “haven’t gone through life’s trauma with” seems to me childish. Now I know some of you may respond well, some relationships due go through tests of life and do not last. That is true, however I feel that there should be serious contemplation involved before inking yourself with someone’s name and make sure that you know them inside out before having the tattoo created, which is permanent.
