Has a child ever misinterpreted an explanation you have given them to your surprise?

This question is piggybacking on ETpro’s question about answering kids’ questions. Our cat was in heat for the first time. I explained to our 4 year old that we must not let the cat out because she was in heat. (my first error). Next thing I knew he had let the cat out. His explanation: “I know you said not to let the cat out because it was hot out, but she was meowing and wanted to see her friends.” The first friend that cat saw next was the vet. Second error I made was not locking and bolting the front door because there was no way I could explain to a 4 year old what the situation was.
