Do all or most frame homes over fifty years old have mice?

One of my friends moved into the family home in 1944. That is, her parents purchased it at that time; she was in a stroller! She still lives there and has mice. She had no idea that mice run over beds and up onto sofas and chairs! I said to hire someone to seal any holes around the foundation but she has a hole in her closet where they somehow come in. Is it to be expected that homes this old will have mice?
