Should the 93 Viper preproduction prototypes be preserved or crushed and why?

Chrysler donated 93 prototype Vipers to colleges for automotive classes to study. They made them with a 600 HP V-10, but no traction control or ABS systems, so they’re not highway worthy. A few have been in accidents when someone took them on the highway, so Chrysler has asked that they all be crushed. Is this a fitting end for a magnificent car?
