Are people in the US so conditioned against smoking they won’t even give quarter to e-cigarettes?

Are we in the US so indoctrinated against smoking that even when e-cigarettes or vaporizing is spoken of, many do not want them used in any place where tobacco smoking is banned without really knowing or understanding the difference; and much more, don’t care?
