Do people become more rational and less passionate with age?

I have a friend who keeps saying “you’re young” as a way to judge or explain my thoughts and behaviors. It bothers me so much because then he means when one gets old they become more stiff, more rational, more toward point A to B without considering the process and whats in between.
How do people change when they grow older? The general mindset? How can someone who is 21 be different from someone who is 28?
