How do I know if my crush likes me?

So one night we were at my aunts house and out of the blu he just puts his arm over me. Then later on he grabs my hand and holds it for awhile. But then later that night he hold my hand again while we watched the fault in our stars. After all of the happened he was texting my cousin that was in the same room as us and was saying that he didn’t want it to be anything but I just think he doesn’t want anyone to know he likes me if he really does or not. But he could’ve played me too. Was he playing me? Or does he really like me but doesn’t want to tell anyone the truth? I’m lost if he didn’t like me then why would he do those things? Someone please help.
