What could be causing this harsh pain in my thigh?

Asked by Vivster (7points) February 2nd, 2015

Last night I had a slight pain in my knee, I couldn’t really identify the location of the pain until today. As the day went on, the pain progressed. The pain is in my right thigh, one inch above the knee cap, and on my inner thigh. I didn’t do anything, that I know of, to injure myself. A few friends suggested a pulled muscle or a knot, but the nurse told me that the symptoms don’t match. If I walk too much on it, a wave of pain runs through that area of my leg. Sometimes the pain runs down my shin or up my thigh for a brief period. When I sit down, the pain remains for a while; I can’t really press down on it or it hurts. But if I don’t touch or move my leg for half an hour, the pain is bearable and (possibly) not noticeable. Also, sometimes, my shin kind of gets numb. Everyone I’ve talked to has no idea what it could be. I’ve tried taking a warm bath, icing it, and elevating it, but it doesn’t really make a difference. Help?
