This is a sure sign of senility, right?

My BFF’s husband, 82, is quite wealthy. I mean really wealthy. He has been living in her childhood home for many decades but they have two other homes. At their ages (she’s 70) they have no business climbing the stairs to get to the bathroom so she wanted a half bath installed downstairs at great cost. He refused. This was three years ago. In the past week he has “used the facilities” twice. What facilities? The toilet he placed directly on the dining room floor with no plumbing under or behind it. He did this to save money but she never told me about it until today. He uses it then walks off , leaving it for her to clean. Has he lost his mind? I fear the worst; that he will pass away soon. He and I are not friends. They have no children to help her out with him because he never wanted any.
