Why do I sometimes lose wi fi connection on my ipad mini?

I’m in my own home when I’m connected to the internet on my ipad. I try to go on safari but it will say not connected to the internet. Why does it sometimes lose the connection? I have the wi fi only model. The laptop connection works just fine though.
