I was in a restaurant supply store drooling over a shaved ice machine when my wife abruptly grabbed my ear and drug me away from “the precious” muttering threats about the need for my institutionalization. As we fled the vicinity in the Subaru with her behind the wheel, I was treated to the pro forma lecture on why “we cannot have any more ugly gadgets cluttering up the house. Besides, you’re at an age when you don’t want excuses to pour sugary syrup over anything. Buy a sno cone now and then at a carnival or something.” But I haven’t seen a sno cone anywhere for years.
