What's a good free text expander?

Specifically I would like to be able to have automatic suggestions based on the words I’ve typed within the current session (like in LibreOffice) and automatic capitalization after a period. I can’t use Word or LibreOffice or a browser for what I’m typing, so I need a discrete app to work with my software. Help would be hugely appreciated.
