Do you have flood insurance and how much do you pay for it?

Two years ago, we purchased a very affordable house on a lake. The views are priceless and it is not a known area for flooding. But I have been concerned as I read more about rivers and lakes flooding local areas. I thought this was usually a concern for people who live near an ocean or bay but I guess I am wrong. I was surprised to learn the basement would not be covered, as it is underground. With the summer here and possible hurricanes and storms, I think we should get flood insurance. Do you have it and what does it cost? I have heard it can be quite costly, but then I am thinking of the risk we are taking by not getting it. Any help is appreciated.
