Clever ideas for jewelry etc storage/display?

Earrings, rings, necklaces, hair sticks, clips, bobby pins, ... it's all accumulating and I'd like to store them in such a way to use them easily. Safety pins and even scarves for that matter if you have ideas. You know how dozens of necklaces and earrings in little boxes and bags in drawers never get worn. I've seen some creative and useful ideas like hanging necklaces on a horizontal stick of some kind (so that you can see them all, and access each one individually), or earrings all pinned through one fabric or canvas, or rings on a vertical stick. I might have enough that one of those old-fashioned jewelry cases would be good (with little drawers and lots of compartments). I'm wondering what other good ideas are out there: space efficient, aesthetically attractive, easy to access. Also, for moving, any ideas -- not a bag/box (or many little ones) of tangled stuff, but kinds of containers that work well.
