Why did I feel like I couldn't breathe/was choking after my dentist gave me an anesthetic before my widom tooth surgery today ?

Okay I don’t want to freak anyone out.

But I went to have all four of my wisdom tooth pulled today.

The dentist injected me with anesthetic that enabled me to be awake during the surgery.

After this he then put a big chunk of gauze(cloth) in the corner of my mouth probably to absorb blood.

When he took the gauze out I really started to feel like my airway passage in the back of my throat was blocked.

I actually started thinking that maybe a piece of the gauze went down my throat. But he said there was none and started using his sucking device.

I started coughing more to the point where I threw up. I really felt like I could not breathe through my airway in my throat.

Do you think I might have had an allergic reaction to the anesthetic or do you think maybe I was just nervous?

After I threw up everything was better. I still had a weird feeling in the back of my throat though. They told me to breathe through my nose only and then everything was okay.

If you have any similiar stories let me know.
