How to fix a split, chewed pipe?

So my father was doing some digging in the garden when he accidentally put the shovel right through a pipe. We got a thing which kind of joins the pipes, it has two ends which the pipes go in and then the water goes through it and continues through the pipe. I hope that description puts a picture in your head. When we went to put it on we realized that our dog had chewed the pipe, which caused it to have holes in it, so water still leaks out. Can anyone think of a solution? Thanks.
