How do I remove the big lenses on the bottom of a pair of binoculars?

(The side opposite where you look through)

Can’t find anything on the internet that will tell me how I can get the lenses out. I just need them for a project I’m building. I’ve tried hacking at the rubbery stuff around them with a pocket knife but it doesn’t really do much.

Any ideas??
