Should Affluenza-Mommy be locked up in prison?

Asked by msh (4270points) January 4th, 2016 from iPhone

Tonya Couch, along with her son, disappeared into Mexico trying to escape apprehension by Texas officials. A violation of her son’s probation had caused the pair to take flight. Ethan Couch, the victim of ‘affluenza’ inflicted upon him by his parents. He had not only missed his monthly court mandated check-in. He was to have been questioned over a recent posting on social media, which showed him at a party where alcohol was present. This was in violation of his reduced sentence from his trail over his drunk driving resulting in the killing of four people.
Fleeing to Mexico, establishing themselves, and continued usage of alcohol brought an end to the chase.
Ethan Couch remains in a Mexican ‘prison’.
Mommy, er, Tonya will go to to court in California on Tuesday, concerning her extradition back to Texas. She faces 2–10 years for ’ hindering apprehension of a felon’. She plans to plead not guilty that at the time, they believed their actions were in responce to his failing to report to the court officer check-in. She may get off for that factor. She is currently out on a one million dollars bond- even though she already left the country illegally for this very charge. In Texas, what she did is not an offense. Her lawyer charges that she was returned to CA for that reason.
For what should Mommy be held responsible? Any penalty?
