Headphone input not working?

My headphones got slightly bent today, but I managed to straighten it out and when I plugged them in they were fine, I briefly unplugged them but then when I plugged them back in nothing happened. My screen didn’t turn on or anything, and it was basically like I hadn’t just plugged headphones in. I then tried different headphones and they didn’t work either, so I am guessing my tablet is the problem, and not the headphones. What could be wrong, and how can I fix it?
My tablet is a Samsung tab 3, if that at all helps.
